Things that qualify as emergencies:
- Severe toothaches
- Abscessed or infected teeth or gums
Emergency procedure for a lost or knocked out tooth:
- Clean the tooth by gently sucking or placing in milk
- Try to reinsert the tooth once clean, make sure it is facing the correct way, and bite on a wad of cloth until it can be seen by a dentist.
- If unable to reinsert the tooth, it is important to keep it moist – DO NOT let it dry out. Keep it in cold milk or wrap it in plastic with saliva and put it on ice.
